Insomnia

Also known as: sleep problems

Overview

Insomnia — trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or early waking at least 3 nights a week for 3 months with daytime impact — is best treated long-term with cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Clindle screens for drivers (anxiety, depression, restless legs, sleep apnea, thyroid, late-day caffeine), prescribes non-controlled medication options (trazodone, doxepin, hydroxyzine, ramelteon, melatonin) when appropriate, and refers for CBT-I and sleep studies. We do not prescribe Ambien, Lunesta, or benzodiazepines over telehealth.
