Overview
Adderall is amphetamine salts (mixed); Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is a prodrug — inactive until metabolized, giving smoother onset and lower misuse potential. Both are Schedule II controlled substances.
Treatment
Both require in-person prescribing and DEA-registered psychiatry. Vyvanse: once-daily, longer-lasting, less peak-crash. Adderall XR: 8–12 hours; Adderall IR: 4–6 hours, more flexible dosing.
