Shortness of breath
Also called: dyspnea, trouble breathing, winded
Shortness of breath has many drivers: asthma, COPD, anxiety, anemia, heart failure, deconditioning, and pulmonary embolism. New or worsening breathlessness at rest, with chest pain, or after a long flight or surgery needs urgent in-person evaluation to rule out blood clots. Clindle evaluates non-emergent dyspnea over video — exercise tolerance, asthma flares, allergy-driven breathlessness — orders pulmonary function or imaging when needed, and treats with inhalers, antihistamines, or referrals to pulmonology and cardiology depending on the workup.
