Red or itchy eyes
Also called: pink eye, conjunctivitis, allergic eye
Most red eyes are viral or allergic conjunctivitis. Viral pinkeye is highly contagious, watery, often with a recent cold; allergic conjunctivitis is itchy and bilateral; bacterial conjunctivitis has thick yellow-green discharge. Clindle evaluates over video, prescribes antibiotic drops for bacterial cases, antihistamine drops for allergic, and gives supportive care for viral. Eye pain, vision change, contact-lens-related redness, or photophobia is not a televisit — it needs in-person ophthalmology to rule out corneal ulcer, iritis, or angle-closure glaucoma.
