Seasonal allergies
Also called: hay fever, allergic rhinitis, sneezing
Allergic rhinitis causes sneezing, itchy eyes and nose, congestion, and post-nasal drip — usually triggered by pollen, dust mites, mold, or pets. First-line treatment is daily intranasal corticosteroid (fluticasone, mometasone) plus a second-generation antihistamine (loratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine). Clindle evaluates symptoms, prescribes stronger options (azelastine nasal spray, montelukast when appropriate), and refers for allergy testing or immunotherapy when symptoms persist year-round. Severe asthma flare with allergies needs in-person evaluation.
