Non-controlled sleep medication review

A sleep visit looks beyond a sleeping pill. The clinician reviews your sleep schedule, snoring, anxiety and other medications before considering non-controlled options. If you already take trazodone or doxepin, bring the dose and what happens on nights you use it. Medication review can be paired with a practical sleep plan rather than automatically increasing a dose.

Before your visit

Bring a recent sleep diary, medication list and any prior sleep-study results. Mention daytime sleepiness, driving concerns and witnessed pauses in breathing.

What happens next

The plan may include sleep-apnea testing or coordinated therapy. Ambien, Lunesta and benzodiazepines are not supplied through the existing insomnia service. Severe confusion or a safety emergency needs immediate in-person care.
